Situated in the county of Berkshire in England is a beautiful town of Reading. It is by the Thames Valley in the confluence of River Kennet and Thames. The town is 40 miles east of Swindon and 25 miles south of Oxford. It is approx 40 miles west of London and 15 miles north of Basingstoke. The town can date back to 8th century and it was considered important ecclesiastical centre and trading centre in the middle ages. The Reading Abbey is one of the must visit places in the town. The Reading Abbey is considered one of the richest and largest monasteries of mediaeval England that has Royal roots. By 1525 Reading was considered largest town in Berkshire and had taxable wealth which stand at tenth in England. During the English Civil War the town was severely affected and had major loss of trade and siege which was the reason for a pivotal change in the revolution of 1688. Also by the 18th century major iron works and growth in brewing trade started and saw reading town becoming quite famous for it.

By the 19th century town developed rapidly by growing businesses in baking, brewing and seed business as the great Western Railway arrived making the town grow faster. As a manufacturing centre Reading town is considered one of the major commercial centre that focuses a lot on insurance and information technology. It has a major retail centre that serves the large part of Thames Valley and it also has the University of Reading. Every year there is a Reading Festival which is considered one of the biggest music festivals in England. Their sports teams are Reading Hockey Club and Reading Football Club and over 15,000 runners take part in the Reading Half Marathon every year.
